Decorah Farmers Market, June 5, 2021

Just a note here to document the fact that Contratopia played two hours of tunes this morning at the Decorah Farmers Market. This followed our earlier, surprise appearance on May 22. Both times were great fun and lots of market shoppers, and vendors, really seemed to enjoy hearing live music; almost as much as we enjoyed playing it. There's a real possibility that we might make a third appearance sometime later in the summer.

We also have a two hour set scheduled on the Friday afternoon of Decorah's annual Nordic Fest celebration. This will occur from 2:30-4:30 at Canopy 3 on Water Street. There's even the possibility of other events this summer in Decorah.

What we need now is an excuse to play music up in the Twin Cities area. Please contact Pat or Patrice if you have any ideas. Big money is not the object this summer, we just want to have fun playing together. House/yard concerts, garden parties; we are open to a variety of things. Safety, of course, is still paramount but we are all getting better at navigating that challenge.

Hope to see you soon ....

Contratopia livestreaming concert from Tapestry on April 9, 2021

It's been over a year since the members of Contratopia were all in the same room together. Our last gig was on March 1, 2020 at Glen Echo Park. It's been a long year for us and we have missed playing for dances and events. However ...

On Friday evening, April 9, we will come together again to play a concert as part of the Tapestry Folkdance Center Concert Series. This free event will be livestreamed and recorded for later viewing. You can read the details and register here: https://www.tapestryfolkdance.org/concerts

We will undoubtedly sound a little rusty at times but there will be a lot of joy in our playing as well. We will also be recording an interview via Zoom the week before the concert and that should be available for viewing in advance of the show.

Please join us if you can for good music and fun!
